Dplus KIA qualify for Worlds 2026 after 3-1 victory over KT Rolster

Dplus KIA have officially qualified for Worlds 2026 after beating KT Rolster 3-1 in the LCK playoffs on Friday. This result not only helped DK secure a top-four spot and a guaranteed place at Worlds, but also sent KT Rolster down to the Demacia Cup Global Invitational. The road to this match was full of challenges for DK. Just a few days earlier, they had lost 0-3 to the same KT Rolster. That defeat worried fans because DK had just won the Esports World Cup and were in strong form during the mid-season of the LCK. In the previous match, DK were even on the verge of elimination after falling 0-2 behind BNK FEARX. However, they completed a remarkable reverse sweep, winning three straight games, before meeting KT again in the decisive match. In the first game against KT, DK struggled again. KT controlled the pace and won comfortably. DK bounced back in game two with a tense contest lasting 42 minutes. Careful preparation in the ban/pick phase helped DK neutralize KT’s preferred champions. As the series went on, DK showed more flexibility in their approach. The key difference was the bottom lane duo. Sin "Smash" Geum-jae – the MVP of the Esports World Cup final – continued his excellent form and became the main attacking threat. His partner Oh "Career" Hyung-suk, after a poor first game, quickly adjusted and developed better synergy. Together, they helped DK handle the pressure and secure the victory. With this result, DK officially return to Worlds after missing the 2026 edition. It will also be the first Worlds appearance for Smash, Career, and Jeon "Siwoo" Si-woo. Their journey is not over yet: to win the LCK title, DK need three more victories. Their next challenge is T1 on Sunday. If they maintain this level, DK can definitely set higher goals this season.
